Little Eorthe Farm is about more than preserving farmland. It’s about more than providing fresh, organic, locally grown produce to the residents of Western Pierce County. It’s about more than passing on knowledge and philosophy to the next generation. Little Eorthe Farm is about all of these things, but more than anything, Little Eorthe Farm is about revolutionizing the food system in this country – replacing our current petroleum-based, transportation-heavy, inorganic, inhumane (and let’s face it – short sighted, cruel, greedy and idiotic) factory farm system with all local, all organic, all humane farming procedures and practices.

The implications of a truly sustainable food system are universal, and they include a decrease in dependence on fossil fuels, foreign and domestic, a decrease in corporate control and a commensurate increase in the power of individual citizens, less pollution, a healthier environment, the list goes on and on.

Sound good? Get involved!

How can you be a part of making our world a healthier place to live?

Dear Friends,

As this November closes, I looked back at the last missive and had to laugh at the prediction of snow. Oh wow! Last week was a fluke, hopefully!!! We are eternally grateful for this growing season no matter how strange and curious and for you all, our brave new shareholders. What a year, eh? We lost many things in the snow and 8 degree weather last week like the broccoli, cauliflower, fennel bulb and all the winter squash that was covered with blankets in the tractor shed. We still have brussel sprouts, kale and carrots for any of you if you would like to partake.

We would like to know how you liked the produce, what we could improve on, your thoughts are so welcome! It would also be good to hear from you if you can join us again next year. We’re already making plans and are plotting and planning, literally.

And lastly, in tradition of celebration, we’d like to invite you to our last wingding of the year. On Tuesday, December 21st, we’ll be celebrating the return of the light with a huge bonfire and potluck. It will not rain (fingers crossed) and we all gotta eat, so potuck is in order. It’s a full moon, too, and we have a lot of birthdays to celebrate this month including our dear friend, Valerie Foster, whom we hope will join us on that day, her day. Fire is the fitting element to celebrate this season. So, let the sparks fly and see what happens!

Thanks again for being apart of our maiden voyage. The best is yet to come.
